about jane

I believe in people’s ability to uncover their self-limiting beliefs and patterns and change their lives in ways that align with their personal goals.

“Go confidently in the directions of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined.” Henry David Thoreau

I know firsthand the courage and resilience it takes to navigate infertility.

My partner and I went through a 3.5 year ordeal before having our child.  It is an honour to counsel people through fertility challenges and the unique loss and grief that come with them.  A health diagnosis taught me to give up people pleasing patterns and set clear boundaries for myself, with others.  My continued self-reflection, and commitment to transforming my own life are strengths I bring to my clients.

I am a proud Mom to an 11 year old who brings endless joy and fun into our lives.  I have a regular spiritual practice that is a source of peace for me.  I am happiest when I am travelling with my family, spending time with friends, and on long walks in nature.

My background

I graduated in 2012 from the University of British Columbia with a Masters of Counselling Psychology.  Since then, I have worked extensively with individuals and couples dealing with infertility and postpartum, anxiety, depression, self-doubt, boundary issues, people pleasers, narcisstic relationships, grief, and life transitions.  In particular, I have a great deal of personal and professional experience with people struggling to conceive or dealing with secondary infertility.

Why I became a counsellor

Counselling is a passion of mine.  I am inspired by the innate courage, strength and resilience that people possess when faced with adversity as well as their willingness to explore what matters to them and ultimately transform their lives.

My approach

I have a practical approach to counselling.  I believe in honest conversations that uncover and gently challenge patterns within behaviours and beliefs that no longer serve you.  Together, we will come up with goals and strategies and tools that support actionable change so that you experience the differences you want to achieve internally and as an extension of your inner shift, in your day to day.  It is the co-creation of an authentic relationship that is key to our work together.  I genuinely look forward to seeing my clients because of the strong connection and rapport we build together.  There is no “one size fits all” approach with my clients but for couples I find Emotionally Focused Therapy very effective.  For individuals I use a range of counselling modalities.

What you can expect working with me

I am warm, friendly and easy to talk to.  I am known for my ability to connect with others, and my authenticity.  I believe in and practice radical self acceptance and self-care.
